The tornado watch for Rockingham, Caswell, Surry, Yadkin, Patrick, Stokes and Pittsylvania is still set to terminate at 8 a.m. The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for all of the state west of Syracuse until 10 p.m. This is the same system which has spawned tornadoes and killed a total of 80+ people this week. The Triad has been secured from severe weather partially due to a huge lofty pressure system off the Atlantic coastline. There have been numerous reports of tornadoes, hail and wind damage from Arkansas to Missouri and most recently in Mississippi and Tennessee. Some thunderstorms could include damaging winds and hail. This month has been the most dangerous one as far as brutal weather in concerned. April 1974 used to hold the record. April 2011 will likely beating that record. The number of tornadoes continues to rise as more damage surveys are completed so a final total can't yet be given.

There was a high risk over the northern parts of Mississippi and Alabama and the southern part of Tennessee. Dozens of people died when the storms hit Alabama. A huge risk is the most hazardous situation when it comes to ruthless weather potential. There was a high risk the day eastern North Carolina experienced so much tornado damage.
