Paul McDonald is a very singer and song writer from rock genres. He is the lead singer of High tides a very famous band which has been renamed as The Grand Magnolias in 2010. He has born on August 29, Huntsville, Alabama, United States and currently resides at Nashville, Tennessee.
Hightide Blues was formed in 2005 when Paul McDonald and Jonathan Pears began writing songs. Two members Phillip Gayle and Scott Rollins where added later. In 2006 McDonald opted for a full-time career in music, putting his education on hold. The self-produced album, Love Comes Easy, was released in 2007. This band is a huge success on the internet and has won multiple awards on websites reaching 2nd position on Best Pop for 2011.
Paul McDonald moved to Nashville, Tennessee, with his band members and launched a campaign for renaming their band. The first album has been released with the new group title The Grand Magnolias. Paul McDonald has written songs for this album. The album has done well in sales specially after the performance of Paul McDonald appearance on American Idol and it reached on 16th level on Billboard and Heatseekers charts and up to 6,000 copies have been sold till April 6, 2011.
McDonald has been awarded with a golden ticket to compete in Hollywood on January 27, 2011, and was able to make it to the Top 24. His original song “American Dreams” has been really popular in the competition.
He was among the ten finalist candidates, based on public voting. After entering American Idol season ten, McDonald has been very successful in his social networking campaign on Twitter. He has been able to promote “The Grand Magnolias” to number 3 on iTunes Rock Album Chart.
McDonald was eliminated at the 8th place, on April 14, 2011.
